Determination of Polychlorinated Biphenyls in Water Samples Using a Needle Trap Device Combined with Gas Chromatography

In this study, a fiber-packed needle trap device (NTD) was developed by packing heat-resistant fibers with polyethylene glycol sol-gel coating into 21-gauge, stainless steel needle. The has numerous advantages, including uniform roughness and large specific surface area. prepared NTD used for headspace extraction of five polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in water samples, determined gas chromatography flame ionization detector (GC-FID). main experimental parameters, the desorption conditions, ionic strength, fiber bundles, were investigated to improve efficiency. After optimization, satisfactory linearity (r > 0.99) concentration range 0.02–500 μg/L obtained, enrichment factor PCBs between 1150 9537 times. limit detection (S/N = 3) measured ranges 0.0021–0.01 μg/L. Furthermore, excellent durability, can be reused 60 cycles. being stored at room temperature three days, storage ability had loss less than 10%, relative standard deviation (RSD) 10%. When analyzing real good accuracies (spiked recoveries 92.19–98.56%) precision (the RSD lower 12.8%) obtained.
